LEARN TO KITE!

Introduction

Welcome to Kitezone Mozambique, the only kitesurf school in Maputo!
Our school was created in July 2009 and has trained more than 80 students till date. All lessons are run regarding the International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO) standards and focus on the maximum safety for the students and for other beach users.

Our vision

One of the school goal is to develop sustainably the practice of kitesurf in Mozambique through the training of Mozambican students and Mozambican Instructors. One Mozambican kitesurfer, part of the school crew,  is currently training to get his IKO Instructor Certification.

Our objectives

We aim at training enough students to grow and strenghten the kitesurfer community in Maputo and in Mozambique in order to create dynamism and to develop the sport. Special focus is brought on the training of local kitesurfers in order to perpetuate the practice of kitesurf in Mozambique. Kitezone Mozambique is closely linked to the MOKA (Mozambican Kiteboarding Association), created in 2007, and promotes the necessity for the future kitesurfers to be part of the association.

The MOKA

The Mozambican Kiteboarding Association was created in July 2007 (officialized by the "Boletim da Republica" of the 17th of July 2007) by the kitesurf pioneers in Mozambique. A group of Mozambican and foreign kitesurfers decided to set up an association in order to develop a safe practice of kitesurfing n Mozambique. The goals of MOKA are not only to create a structure and a kitesurf community but also to promote the practice of kitesurf in a way which respects the other beach users. MOKA also promotes activities such as beach cleaning, event organization, etc.
