The spot

Description

The main spot is located in Triunfo Beach, next to Costa do Sol, about 10 minute drive from the city center.

The spot offers all characteristics to learn in safe conditions: Shallow water, no waves, stable side-onshore wind, wide sand banks at low tide.

The spot can get crowded during week-ends but is very quiet most of the time. During week-ends, lessons can be managed on Xefina Island, just in front of Triunfo Beach. A boat can bring us there (5 minutes) for 300 Meticais/pers.

Wind season last generally from September until February. During these months, trade winds are thermal winds blowing from North-East direction, mainly during the afternoon. South-East winds are also quite common. Winds are almost always orientated side-onshore, offering good conditions to learn kitesurf. Average wind strenght is between 12 and 18 knots. Main kite sizes used are 10m and 12m

Out of the wind season, from March until August, the average number of windy days is lower but we can have good conditions sometimes. Average wind speed is between 14 and 20 knots and main sizes used are 10m and 12m.

The spot offers the advantage to have no other sea users: no windsurf (or very occasionally), no boats, no jetskis.
